I Finally Did It

I started my own vegan food blog! Yes I know the internet is filled with more vegan food blogs than the number of practicing vegans alive today. Ok maybe that is an exaggeration.

While I’m excited the thing is that I love THIS blog: going-vegan.net. It is cathartic for me and it gives me a place to talk about things that most of the people in my life have absolutely no desire to talk about.

It can be a lonely journey to be a vegan among meat eaters. That isn’t to say that I don’t have support. I’m actually very lucky. I often read on other blogs about how a longtime friend or family member rejects someone who goes vegan. I know that it is common for co-workers or acquaintances to almost make a point of trying to intimidate a vegan into feeling wrong or at least out of place. I don’t experience that. I live in a vegan friendly community. I have a very supportive family. My friends and co-workers treat me like anyone else and what I don’t eat isn’t an issue at all. I’m very, very lucky and I know that.

However, I also have no close friends who are vegan and no one else in my life is as passionate about animal rights. I can’t call my sister-in-law who I adore, to cry over the latest video released by Mercy for Animals. Watching the video isn’t something she could do, but she supports me. Bottom line, I need my going-vegan.net blog.

The reason I stared a second blog instead of posting recipes to this blog is that I don’t want this space in my life to be anything other than my haven to express my vegan self. I have in the past posted recipes and it has never felt comfortable.
Thus enters my new blog for the other part of my vegan life. I love cooking and I really enjoy food photography. I even took a few days off work this week mainly to transform one of my bedrooms into an amateur photography studio. With my new blog I have a space for these new passions. It is a space for being a bit creative.

Anyway, I just launched Recipe for Going Vegan (recipeforgoingvegan.net). I’m very excited.

I’m constantly amazed at how going vegan has enriched so many aspects of my life!
